Civil War era Musician’s Sword

This is a Civil War era musician’s sword. This sword is in very good condition with a nice patina to the blade. The blade is entirely straight and doesn’t appear to have seen any action. The grip and guard of the blade is in good shape, although it has loosened slightly. The base of the blade is marked “U.S., D.K., 1862.” There also appears to be a small letter “D” on one part of the grip.
