Civil War Era Arm Splint

This is a Civil War era arm splint. This splint would have been used for either arm and was slightly adjustable with a mechanism that allowed for the wearer to bend his hand slightly up or down. The splint would have been most likely attached to the wearer’s arm with some sort of cloth band or wrap. On the back of the splint is a small inscription which appears to read: “L. T. Gee, Patent, May 6, 1864.”
