Fokker D-VII “U.10” Fabric Fragment
This is a piece of fabric off of a German Fokker D-VII or “U.10” piloted by Lt. Heinz von Beaulieu-Marconny. The Fokker D-VII was a German fighter created and manufactured during the last few months of World War II. This piece of fabric was taken from a plane that was captured on November 9, 1918. The German pilot accidentally landed on an American airstrip and was quickly apprehended by the American pilots stationed there. The entire plane is part of the collection of the National Air and Space Museum.
